Anastácias Berlin
Schwarz, Black, Preta
Anastácias Berlin is a theater collective based in Germany that explores the lived experiences and resistances of Black women through innovative performative strategies rooted in the methods of the Theatre of the Oppressed. Their production "Schwarz, Black, Preta" is a powerful investigation into the intersecting forms of discrimination that Black women face, confronting the social, economic, and cultural challenges that impact their daily lives.
Through a dynamic and participatory stage environment, Anastácias Berlin seeks to create an aesthetic and democratic space where Black women can recognize themselves as creators of art, knowledge, and social transformation. The group raises critical questions such as: Why are Black women’s bodies often exoticized and objectified? Why do these bodies provoke so much curiosity? Where does the perception that our bodies are publicly accessible come from?
In Schwarz, Black, Preta, Black women reclaim the royalty within them, guided by ancestral voices that carry stories of struggle and resilience. They challenge the audience to reflect on systemic exploitation, racism, and injustice, and to join in the work of societal change. With performances that blend body language and multilingual expression (German and Portuguese), Anastácias Berlin uses Forum Theatre to confront realities and inspire collective action.
