Comitê Marielle Franco Berlim
The Marielle Franco Committee in Berlin was created in response to the global outcry following the brutal assassination of Rio de Janeiro city councilor Marielle Franco and her driver Anderson Gomes on March 14, 2018. Since its formation, the committee has remained active in the pursuit of justice, the preservation of memory, and the continuation of the political and social struggles that Marielle represented.
Based in Germany's capital, the committee brings together individuals committed to human rights, anti-racism, Black feminism, and democratic values. Its work connects the Brazilian context with global movements, functioning as a platform for international solidarity and political engagement. Through artistic interventions, public demonstrations, educational initiatives, and institutional advocacy, the committee raises awareness about systemic violence in Brazil and continuously demands answers to the question that still echoes worldwide: Who ordered Marielle's murder? And why?
Beyond remembrance, the committee works to keep Marielle Franco’s legacy alive — amplifying her voice through collective action and public presence. It creates space for marginalized voices, offering a meeting point for those engaged in anti-colonial and intersectional struggles.
In Berlin, Marielle Franco is not forgotten. Her name lives on in the streets, in acts of resistance, and in the ongoing pursuit of justice for all lives threatened and silenced by oppressive systems. "Marielle presente" remains more than a slogan — it is a call to action and a commitment to building a more just and equitable world.
